What I’ve Been Working on Lately

Ever since I put my novel on the back burner, I haven’t felt like blogging much. I didn’t feel like there was much point since I wasn’t making any active progress on my book. However, that doesn’t mean I haven’t been writing.

Writing LGBTQ+ Articles

Starting in 2018 I began writing articles on a site called Medium. I write about LGBTQ+ issues with a focus on the transgender community. I’ve written nearly eighty articles since then, many of which have been curated under the LBGTQ+ and Equality categories on Medium. As of 2019 I’ve also had numerous articles accepted for submission to various publications on Medium, such as Age of Awareness, An Injustice!, and Noteworthy.

Ever since coming out as transgender, I’ve felt the need to lend my voice online to aid my community. There is so much misinformation and disinformation about transgender people and I’ve tried to counter that with thoughtful, well-researched pieces that I hope make some people think twice regarding their views of the transgender community. Writing from my perspective as a transgender man, I hope, helps lend some credibility to my claims.

Writing Fiction

While a lot of my focus has been on writing articles, I haven’t completely abandoned writing fiction. I’ve slowed down a lot, I do still occasionally write fanfiction stories. Those depend on my mood and motivation at the time. I like the more casual nature of writing fanfiction. I still edit the stories and make sure they are well-written, but I don’t need to be as rigorous as I am with my published works.

I may have set aside my science fiction novel for the time being, but I have written and published two gay erotic romances under the pen name of Grayson Bell. I am currently working on a collection of erotic short stories under that same pen name that I hope to publish before the end of the year.

Once I’ve completed that collection of stories, I am hoping to turn my attention back to The Artifacts of Truth. The novel still requires an ending and more editing before I can attempt another round of submissions to literary agents. I still plan to make one more attempt at traditional publishing for this novel. If it doesn’t pan out after all my edits and revisions, I will self-publish it as I have my novels as Grayson Bell.

Blogging

I have never been one to blog unless I have something meaningful, I want to share. I post updates on the progress of my writing on occasion, but I prefer to blog useful writing advice and insights instead. When an idea inspires me, I’ll blog about it. Now that I’ve expanded my brand to include non-fiction articles, I may find more inspiration to blog in the future.

Whether you’re a long-suffering follower of my writing or brand new, let me know in the comments if you’d be interested in hearing more about my writing adventures on Medium.
